15. Maybe Father Doesn't Always Know Best

The relationship between Spock and his father, Ambassador Sarek, had long been a tense one. In one of the last scenes of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, Sarek finally admits that it is possible he may have been incorrect in opposing his son€™s enlistment in Starfleet and that Spock€™s €œassociates€ are people of good character. Spock replies with, €œThey are my friends,€ and asks Sarek to tell his mother, €œI feel fine.€ The two part ways, an understanding finally reached after so many years, with the traditional Vulcan farewell of €œLive long, and prosper.€
