If you were worried that the complicated sub-plots, conspiracies and twist endings were starting to see Orphan Black stray into the sort of territory previously trampled by less-than-feted sci-fi shows like Lost, then rest assured: the makers of this particular mystery genre show actually have a plan. Yes, the makers of Lost claimed they did too, but they were lying. It's pretty set, co-creator John Fawcett has said of the overarching plot. How we get there changes constantly, and it evolves and gets more complex. As we get more story behind us, it becomes clearer. Some of that story is being teased out in the tie-in comic book (which fills in details of each clone's past and earl life) as well as the show itself, and apparently they have a lot more material to go through as of yet. So long as they keep getting renewed, anyway. Whilst they've had plans in place to end the series at the end of each season, in the off-chance that they don't get picked up for another go-around, Orphan Black has been in gestation for a good decade. That's when Manson and Fawcett first started on the story, although it took them a good decade to crack it. And the show may very well go on for that long. The plan is for Orphan Black to go on for eight seasons and wrap up in a movie. So hopefully you're strapped in and Tatiana Maslany's signed a binding contract cos it's gonna be a bumpy ride...
