20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About Sons Of Anarchy
3. Ron Perlman Wasn't The Original Clay
Ron Perlman's Clay Morrow was one of the major cast members of Sons Of Anarchy. Whilst he lasted, anyway. The craggy-faced actor who, unfortunately for him, was born with a face which made him perfect to play not only the demonic Hellboy but the furry half of Beauty And The Beat, was one of the biggest draws to the show in the early days. Imagine if, however, Clay didn't have that long, lived-in, distinguished mug of Ron Perlman. What if instead of that, he had a face that reminded you a little bit of Leonard Nimoy, when actually he was that guy from the later Bourne films and The Silence Of The Lambs. According to Kurt Sutter, the original pilot for Sons Of Anarchy was filmed with Scott Glenn in the part of Clay instead of Perlman. When FX picked up the show they re-filmed those scenes with Perlman deciding they wanted to take Clay in a different direction but you can still see him in the background of a couple of the more, ahem, explosive moments of that first episode which would've been a little more pricey to stage again.
