9. Jason Alexander And Larry David Nearly Quit

The episode, The Pen, stands out because it was the first episode of Seinfeld where George Costanza didn't appear.

It was also the LAST episode where George Costanza didn't appear because the actor, Jason Alexander, threatened to walk out if the showrunners excluded him from another episode. His exacts words were, "If you do that again, do it permanently. If you don't need me to be here every week... I'd Just as soon go back home." (It's worth mentioning that Michael Richards and Julia Louis-Dreyfus were absent from more episodes than Alexander but never threatened to quit.)

The same cannot be said about the head-writer, Larry David, who regularly butted heads with the studio execs. One of their biggest arguments is when they rejected his Chinese Restaurant script because the characters just wait in a queue for the entire episode. David threatened to quit the show permanently if they didn't agree it to green-light it.

Although David got his wishes and the episode was highly praised, the studio execs found him too difficult to work with and so, banned him from future meetings.
