20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About American Dad
9. George Washington Carver Didn't Invent Peanut Butter
This is less something intrinsically linked to American Dad, more a widespread misunderstanding, but as Black Mystery Month, the episode in which American Dad jokingly furthers this belief, is so entertaining it's worth including. Who actually invented peanut butter is still up for debate amongst Reese's fanatics, we can say with some certainty that one person who definitely didn't was George Washington Carver.
An inventor dubbed the Black Leonardo, Washington Carver did a lot of stuff with peanut oils and other such related products, but never invented jelly's best friend. And even if he discovered it, he definitely wasn't the first. That hasn't stopped him becoming synonymous with it; Black Mystery Month takes it so much as fact to the extent it actually crafts a fantasy alternative to it.
