20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About Futurama

12. Bender Has An 1038 Year Old Processor

Fox

Despite being a pedestrian bending robot, Bender is certainly a brilliant machine. Throughout the series he's shown off over fifty different functions and a durability that compared to modern technology seems impossible. This has led to many fans theorising he's not a proper robot, but a structure of nanobots that adapt to plot contrivances.

While that's a theory, the show has given us some serious info on what makes Bender work. When he's observed with the F-Ray in Fry And The Slurm Factory we see he has a 6502 microprocessor, the same as used in the Apple II and Atari systems. Slower than the even the lowest grade machine today, it's more than a little outdated come the 31st century, even for a manual labour robot. Suddenly the nanobots make a lot more sense.
