20 More TV Acting Performances That Are Totally Flawless
1. Will Arnett - BoJack Horseman
Voice actors don't always get the same level of acclaim and industry recognition as live-action performers do (there's no award category for them in the Golden Globes or the Oscars), and that really is a shame, because there are some phenomenal, award-worthy vocal performances out there deserving of some extra praise.
Case in point: Will Arnett's six-season run as troubled former TV star BoJack Horseman.
As a show, BoJack Horseman is an innovative animated tragicomedy centred around the titular character's fall from grace, his crippling addictions and damaging behaviour brought on by a awful mental health crisis. As its star, Arnett has to find a way to show audiences how flawed a man (or horse-man hybrid) BoJack is, but also make him likable in his vulnerabilities and tragically human emotions.
As BoJack, Arnett's voice is enough to craft a character for the ages. He's self-deprecating, funny, depressed, aggravating, cynical, intelligent and bursting with potential. Watching him battle his vices and atone for his sins makes for a journey unlike few others on TV, and Arnett's ability to highlight his struggles using just his voice is simply monumental.
