ITV loves a good crime drama and your writer is happy to report that the network already has some lined up for 2021. One of those crime dramas is based on Peter James' bestselling Roy Grace novels. Yes, the beloved detective-superintendent is coming to the small screen and he will be portrayed by none other than Doctor Who and Life on Mars star John Simm.

Simm has a well-documented history with crime dramas and he recently starred in Collateral (also for ITV), so there's no doubt that he was the right choice to bring Roy Grace to life.

The first season will consist of two two-hour episodes and will adapt the first two books in the series (Dead Simple and Looking Good Dead), detailing how Grace's life begins to unravel after the disappearance of his beloved wife Sandy while also exploring how his unorthodox investigative methods puts him on thin ice with his superiors at work.

The show is written by Endeavour creator Russell Lewis and, with filming already underway, it is expected to arrive sometime in the new year.
