The Walking Dead's seventh season has marked a real downturn for the show, in both quality and ratings, with boring storylines, poor pacing, and Negan not living up to the hype.

The back-half of the season has started to change that somewhat though, with a clear improvement in both storytelling and tone. And it's worth sticking around for anyway, because where it's headed is potentially very exciting.

It's building towards a war, between Negan/The Saviours and an army formed from the ranks of Alexandria, Hilltop, the Kingdom, the Scavengers, and Oceanside.

It's not yet clear just how that'll play out - and whether or not the fall in ratings might change the plans for Season 8 - but in terms of where Season 7 is going, it should end at the outset of this looming battle. Seeing all the communities come together and march towards war with Negan should, hopefully, make it all worthwhile.
