12. The OA

The OA sneaked onto Netflix at the end of 2016, and quickly became one of its more curious yet compulsive original series. An enigma wrapped in a riddle and described using interpretive dance, the series focused on a young blind woman who went missing, but shows up seven years later with her sight mysteriously restored.

It was sometimes maddening, often fascinating, and never dull, sparking all manner of fan theories and questions about what was actually happening and what it all meant.

Keeping with just how unconventional the series was, there's been very little said about Season 2, except we know it's been filmed and will be released at some point this year, but that secrecy just adds to the excitement around the mystery box show.
