Hollywood megastar and action movie icon Bruce Willis won an Emmy award for Outstanding Guest Actor In A Comedy Series for his guest-starring role as the scary father of Ross student girlfriend Elizabeth, who ends up dating Rachel. However, he didnt get paid a red cent for playing the part. While starring in The Whole Nine Yards with Matthew Perry, the two got into a good-natured wager on how successful the film would be Willis bet Perry that the movie wouldnt make it to number one at the box office on its opening weekend, and Perry bet it would. Perry won the bet, and Willis had to appear on Perrys little television show for free, having already been cast as Elizabeths over-protective and intimidating (but secretly endearingly insecure) dad Paul. Willis would end up donating the fee to charity as a compromise, SAG rules being rather severe about the concept of actors not being paid for performing in roles due to losing silly on-set wagers. Were aware that Willis is famously cynical, but betting against the success of your movie while youre actually working on it is a little much even for him. Weve never heard what Perry would have had to do had he lost the bet, but again, knowing Willis, it would have been something horribly embarrassing.
