20 TV Episodes That Are Practically Flawless

13. The Underground Railroad - Indiana Autumn

Better Call Saul
Amazon Prime

Though The Underground Railroad makes for a difficult watch, it's not without its brief splashes of beauty and peace. Case in point, Indiana Autumn, the show's eighth episode, which follows runaway slave Cora as he enters a free Black-led community.

Unlike earlier episodes, Indiana Autumn paints a rare portrait of fragile happiness, as the town of Valentine quietly thrives despite the hardships faced by its residents. Cora, though, remains trapped by her recent past, unable to settle, even as she grows closer to Royal.

Colourful, romantic, tender and frustratingly tragic, the show's strongest episode tackles the question of freedom and home to powerful effect, before ending with a hauntingly mysterious dream sequence few will be able to shake. You'll want to look away, but you never will.
