The only thing stopping The Simpsons from being deemed entirely perfect is the fact that its continued to run long after it hit its peak. But the truth is, that doesn't matter at this point, because during its golden years (about seasons three through thirteen) it had already done enough to warrant a place on this kind of list.
During its run, The Simpsons has done more things in more ways than any other TV show. It's mocked and wittily critiqued every aspect of American society a dozen times over, it's reinvented itself time and time again to make sure it never grows too stale, and its pop culture influence is simply unrivalled.
Just think about the amount of iconic lines that have come from Matt Groening's writing room, and you'll realise the genius of The Simpsons' existence. And that's not to mention the sheer volume of unforgettable characters - gluttonous dad Homer and rebel son Bart being the best of them - and inspired couch gags.
