21 Problems Only Friends Fans Will Understand

21. Suffering All The Feels About Ross and Rachel

NBC

At the very heart of Friends is the love story between Ross and Rachel. He loves her, then she loves him, and finally they love each other. Remember how happy you were at the end of The One With The Prom Video, tears-of-joy levels, when she kisses him. It was incredible. Then the whole Mark thing happened.

I'm currently up to this point on my latest rewatch (for the 193rd time) and all I can think is how much of a jealous d**k Ross is, and yet you still feel a little bit sorry for him because it's all driven by how much he loves Rachel. Of course then they go on a break (couldn't they have actually just gone for frozen yogurt instead?) and he sleeps with the girl from the copy place, and it's the beginning of the end, in what's a completely heart-wrenching scene.

After that it's a series of on-again, off-again moments, through missed opportunities, other relationships, a drunken Vegas marriage, and even having a baby together. It all culminates in that sob-worthy finale, when she gets off the plane, because dammit they are lobsters and they mate for life.
