21 TV Shows With Iconic Theme Songs

12. Star Trek

Series Debut: 1966 As well known for the voice over by William Shatner as for the music itself, the theme from Star Trek was originally recorded under the title "Where No Man Has Gone Before" by Alexander Courage. The tune, combined with Shatner's delivery of "Space. The final frontier" etc. is probably one of the most memorable in television history. The theme was so iconic that a similar one - with a similar voice over - was used for Star Trek: The Next Generation, when the franchise returned to television in the late 1980s. This time, however, it was Patrick Stewart, a.k.a. Captain Picard, doing the voice over. Both themes are fantastic but it's the original that really got to iconic status first. In reference to the theme, Courage, who passed away in 2008, called it "marvelous malarkey" - and was never a science fiction fan himself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdjL8WXjlGI
