21 TV Shows With Iconic Theme Songs

1. Doctor Who

Series Debut: 1963 Composed by Rob Grainer and recorded by Delia Derbyshire at the BBC Radiophonic Workship, the theme to Doctor Who has been one of the most recognizable TV themes for five decades. No doubt helped by the franchise's longevity, the theme has gone through several revisions and arrangements, but the main melody driving the tune has always remained the same. The theme also happens to be something of a historic achievement in modern music, as despite being essentially a piece of electronic music, it was recorded before the availability of commercial synthesisers. Instead of synthesisers, every single note was created by cutting and manipulating (slowing down, speeding up, etc.) segments of analogue tape containing recordings of a single plucked string, white noise, and other elements. The theme was edited for the first time in 1970, during the third doctor's run. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1AnTi1X2QM What say you? Have we missed any great themes?
