Is it really a surprise that Jax's final ride towards fate is Sons of Anarchy's most powerful death? Throughout the entire series, Jax had made us laugh, made us cry, frustrated us, made us cheer, pissed us off and everything in between. As a leader, Jax was often driven by emotion instead of logic, his bravado and impulsive nature frequently causing conflict that didn't do justice to how smart he had shown he could be with a cool head. Full of promises he sometimes couldn't or wouldn't keep even if it meant hurting those that mattered most, like Tara, Jax's life was tethered to a club he ultimately knew he couldn't leave behind. After all the mayhem, losses of friends and family and seeing hope for his boys' future through Wendy and Nero, Jax finally came to terms with who and what he was by series' end: A criminal through and through ready to make the ultimate sacrifice for both families that he cared about. Jax wasn't a good guy by any measure, having done a number of unforgivably despicable things over the course of the show, but his heart made him an endearing character to root for even when his actions left us aware that he didn't deserve a happy ending. Though many had predicted he would long before it finally unfolded, Jax's decision to go out like his father was no less powerful for meeting those expectations. His final ride -- despite the increasing number of police behind him -- was peaceful, giving viewers the chance to accept his destiny right alongside him and his smile upon seeing fate deliver in front of him the semi-truck is a gratifying moment for solidifying that it was all meant to be. True to character, Jax went out on his own terms and ensured that fans present and future will forever remember him. Considering the show has featured far more unforgettable deaths than the ones listed above, including characters like Herman Kozik, David Hale, Dawn Trager, Colette Jane and a number of other friends and foes alike, feel free to share any and all other character deaths that have stuck with you from the show's run and keep the Sons of Anarchy discussion alive below!
