25 Best Superhero TV Shows Of All Time
22. Luke Cage
The third addition to Netflix's collection of Marvel heroes, Luke Cage promised something that its predecessors did not - and that was a mature socially-conscious narrative that delved into street crime and the how the community responded to it. And, for the most part, it absolutely pulled it off.
With strong writing and an incredible lead in Mike Colter, Luke Cage was thoroughly engaging in its attempts to tell the story it wanted to. The characters were well-explored and the stakes realistic, while Mahershala Ali and Alfre Woodward's performances as the villains of the piece were nothing short of captivating.
On top of that, this Netflix series bore similarities to its fellow Marvel counterparts in all the best ways, as it adopted that familiar gritty tone that was present in both Daredevil and Jessica Jones and it also featured some excellent fight choreography. And on that note, it was also wonderful to see Rosario Dawson's Claire Temple pop up.
Make no mistake about it, Luke Cage was a little rocky at times and it was the first of the Marvel Netflix saga to suffer from the infamous too-many-episodes issue, but that didn't prevent it from making a statement - and resonating with audiences while doing it.
