25 Most Hotly Anticipated New TV Shows Of 2018

9. Here And Now

Here And Now
HBO

Who? Alan Ball (creator); Holly Hunter, Tim Robbins.

What? A drama about a multiracial American family who harbour deep rifts under the seemingly happy surface, with an added twist when the youngest daughter starts seeing things others cannot.

Why? Ball is responsible for two of HBO's biggest hits in Six Feet Under and True Blood (admittedly the quality of the latter declined considerably over the years), and could well make it a hat-trick here. The premise is right within his wheelhouse, and HBO has a lot of faith in this, giving it a straight-to-series order. It helps that it has two Oscar winners leading the way (it'll be nice to see Robbins doing something more worthwhile, and Hunter was brilliant in The Big Sick).

When & Where? February (exact date TBC), HBO.

NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far. A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
