30 Greatest TV Sitcoms Of All Time
7. The Office (US)
Though the original UK version started it all, created by Ricky Gervais, it's the US remake which takes the spot on this list, and for two big reasons: it has more heart, and it was around for a lot longer.
Beginning its run in 2005 and finishing up in 2013, The Office's mockumentary style and unforgettable characters makes it one of modern TV's most innovative and re-watched shows.
Featuring an all-star cast including Steve Carell, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, Rainn Wilson, Ed Helms and Ellie Kemper (amongst others), the show both honours the original and works wonders as its own show, filled with much more emotional weight and more effective recurring jokes (especially concerning the prank wars between Jim and Dwight).
With its innovative tone, clever filming and pitch perfect performances balancing silly and dry humour with the series' more dramatic turns, the US Office is a fully formed show with few bumps and maximum quotability.
