Of all the things fans didn't expect to see from Attack on Titan, it was Eren turning his back on Armin and Mikasa. From the show's very beginning, the trio had been through all sorts of trauma, somehow managing to come out on top and stay together.

However, the five year time jump between season three and season four showed fans that the Eren Jaeger they'd been rooting for had grown-up to become a very different person. While it was obvious that Eren was no longer going by the plans set by the Paradis military, him turning on his friends just didn't seem like a possibility.

That was until this moment. Eren walks into a room with Mikasa and Armin, and tears his childhood chums and comrades to pieces, callously picking them apart and exposing their weaknesses in front of them. Although it's tough to see him treat Armin that way, how he verbally eviscerates Mikasa is truly heartbreaking.
