We've already seen ample evidence of Hanzee's particular set of skills, but in episode 8 an unexpected side to Hanzee's personality is revealed. He might be a cold-blooded killer but years of racial abuse and post-Vietnam war PTSD helps us to understand the person he is. Compassion for Hanzee's past isn't on the minds of the racists occupying the bar he goes to looking for clues about Ed Blumquist's whereabouts - after taking abuse in and out the bar he pulls out his gun and shoots away, killing the barman and the hapless state troopers who arrive on the scene.
