4 Movies That Should Continue As TV Shows

4. The Matrix

More than any other film on this list this is the one I am most surprised hasn€™t yet been picked up as a television series. SPOILER Neo€™s sacrifice at the end of Matrix Revolutions brings in a new era of peace in the Matrix with humans allowed by the machines to begin to wake up more of the population and to transport them into the real world. An online game released under the supervision of the Wachowski siblings continued the story to show the fight continuing within The Matrix following Neo€™s death and the issues it caused. The most interesting concept within this being that fragments of Neo€™s being were being discovered throughout the Matrix and assembled by a shadowy organisation known as €˜The Shapers€™. For me this seems like a fantastic set up for a television series that recaptures part of what made the original so great. The Matrix on the small screen could focus on a man born outside of The Matrix sent in to track down €˜The Shapers€™ and to prevent them from reassembling Neo and using him to rule over the virtual world. Various elements from the series such as the Oracle and supporting characters could be re-used with plotlines potentially including the resurgence of the agents or an uprising in a city that is woken up to reality too fast. The action for such a show could be set largely within the Matrix and not in Zion to control the budget and could expand on the history of the Matrix and the world itself, maybe even showing a live-action recreation of the humans putting down the first Machine uprising (previously only seen in cartoon form). This concept would also come with a ready-made title €“ Matrix: Reassembled! Although the likelihood of seeing these titles on the small screen is slim it is still fun to speculate and I would be interested to see what ideas others can come up with.
