2. The Only Way Is Essex - 'Famine'.
So here is Famine, the show that leaves us bereft of any nourishment our brains may need to function. It is perhaps the most bemusing show on the list, it actually won a BAFTA, a real one. Not one of those fake ones you buy in a Pound Shop that tells you that you're the worlds best lover (I have many, sometimes it's nice to treat yourself). First off, I can drive all day and I won't end up in Essex, so the only way certainly isn't Essex. I'd rather play with traffic than even contemplate going to the place where this show originates. Essex is a nice place, full of history and the people are genuine. This show, when watched by people around the world, just makes them think: 'Well, England is a lovely place to go if one wants to be lobotomised'. I don't actually understand the premise, but I know that it's a world of fake tan, hair gel and unscripted lines in structured situations. Yet it's not like Monty Python, it's more just a python, slowly strangling the life out of decency and actual entertainment.
