5. UP — Accentuate The Positives Of The Positively Peculiar Accent
Now, this writer has a last name, and a family history. It might seem a little strange, therefore, to rush to the defence of that particular accent. 'Defence' would be stretching it, like those vowel sounds. However, within all the woeful of that Irish impression, what we were left with was, it must be said, the rather enjoyable madcap fun of Fuzz.
As a 'Nanokin,' (not a Nanoken, Nano-Barbie's boyfriend ['Anywhere else I'd be a 10 to the minus 9']), Fuzz had perhaps never even been within half a quadrant of Ireland, although we know he didn't get the accent from one of Tom Paris' holodeck programs. However he came by it, there was bound to be a little screwball in those inflections. His character bio, released in October last year, describes Fuzz as "THE MANIAC," after all!
Sure, Fuzz was dastardly, and a murderer — we might just have to get used to the company. He was also delightfully silly — we might just have to get used to the accent(s). He did elicit a few laughs, too — at the names of his hatchlings, which he began to list at a pointedly inappropriate time, for example. You probably do have to get creative if you're about to have 190,000 of them! "… Clip…. Grip… Influensina… Trip… Trip 2… Cowpox… Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever…"
