5 Finest Small TV Roles

Bronn €“ Game of Thrones

I€™ve focused on comedy shows up until now. If I€™m honest that€™s because they€™re easier to write about. So for the final one we€™ll go with a character from a drama, and it€™s a smooth move on my part as it takes us back where we started with my fatuous link into this article: in the magical world of Westeros. Any British GoT fan over a certain age will at sometime during the seasons so far have pointed at the screen and said something along the lines of, €œOh my God, that€™s Jerome Flynn, the other Unchained Melody bloke! No. It can€™t be. Is it? It bloody is you know.€ And yes, it is. It€™s Jerome Flynn from Soldier Soldier, famous up until now for not being Robson Green, he appears to be having an absolute ball as Bronn, my favourite character in the 7 Kingdoms. Bronn is the ultimate loveable rogue. He€™s brash, brave, uncouth and above all - proper hard. The show€™s producers have got it exactly right and resisted the temptation to write him into more scenes. Because of this it feels like a treat whenever he€™s on the screen. He and Tryion are perfect foils for each other and share the choicest dialogue, but it is Bronn who gets the finest line ever uttered in a TV show, a line for which I thank Messrs. Weiss and Benioff for including in their marvellous adaptation: €œThere€™s no cure for being a cunt.€ And here€™s some I didn€™t have space for: Seinfeld €“ €œCrazy€ Joe Davola, Peterman, Steinbrenner, Puddy 30 Rock -DevonBanks, Gris, Dotcom The Simpsons - Gil, Disco Stu Community €“ Chang The (US) Office €“ Kelly The Wire €“ Bodie Deadwood €“Richardson Family Guy €“Cleveland(until he got his own show) There are loads of others and I€™m sure you€™ll gleefully tell me the ones I€™ve left out. Actually I€™ve deliberately left some out, let€™s go with that. See if you can guess what they are€
