5 Most Disappointing TV Shows Of 2018 (So Far)

1. Marvel's Jessica Jones

2015 was a great year for Marvel on the small screen. On ABC, Agents of SHIELD was in a good groove and Agent Carter was launching, but it was Netflix who'd change the game with Daredevil and then, a few months later, Jessica Jones.

The first season, which featured Krysten Ritter in the title role, really showed what the Netflix Marvel Universe could be, including the darkness and adult tone of Daredevil but using that to discuss a number of serious themes and featuring an intense, incredible hero vs villain rivalry (helped in no small part by David Tennant's performance).

After two-and-a-half years away, then, there was a lot of expectation for Jessica Jones Season 2 (unlike with Luke Cage, which had already faltered in its first season anyway). Krysten Ritter was phenomenal yet again, and the show once again had a great voice, but it also fell victim to many of the now-common Netflix Marvel problems. There was hardly any story, let alone one that could fill 13 hours of television, and a real lack of focus, while it also missed having a clear antagonist. It was an average, at times boring series, when the first had been something really special.
