4. Its Real
No one here is a super hero, no expert marksmen, no magical powers; the world of Breaking Bad is based almost too much in reality. I say too much because all too often what happens just takes your breath away. Sometimes you hide behind your hands and peek out at what is transpiring, because underneath it all theres a little bit of us in every characteryou could see this happening to your children, your father, your friends. Its real. Walter White is the worlds worst hero that you love to watch. This is the Godfather Part One over 40 hours. It puts the audience in the toughest place of all as Walter makes his choices: you root for him because he takes the roads youre too scared to take. But hes surrounded by so many interesting side characters each with their own reality within the drama that keep the whole show grounded. No matter how crazy it gets theres always some side character keeping things real for the audience. Thats what this show hasits a hot air balloon of high concept craziness tied down to earth with real characters and familiar situations.
