4. Storylines
The storylines are excellent, whether it's something simple such as going to Hawaii or a dude ranch, or complex like parodying Hitchcock's Strangers on a Train, the storylines are just consistently funny and original, which is the cherry on the bakewell tart for me. Even certain plots which revolve around something as basic as a kiss have fixed the primary controversy for the show, that the two gay characters haven't kissed on screen. Sub-plots are something that is a main driving force for the show; every episode follows several story-lines that sometimes come together in the end and sometimes don't, but the fact that there is 3/4 plots going on in an episode means the plots are short and sweet and the writers squeeze as many jokes as they can from them. Now in it's 4th season, the storylines are still brilliant, simple and above all else, funny. While Gloria having a baby might be clichéd, it was handled in a great manner, which has really made this 4th season shine and has helped produce many hilarious episodes. So, with great characters and great story-lines, what else can this show do?
