5 Reasons Why Young Indiana Jones Is Actually Not As Bad As You Think

5. Better Than Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull

Young Indy Jones Let€™s face it, The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull was awful. Don€™t try and defend it. Oh wait, nobody was trying to defend it. Okay then let€™s continue. The storyline was weak and its characters nonsensical. Harrison Ford could barely keep up with his own character, let alone the others. The whole thing was a disaster. Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull should never have been made as it effectively ruined the Indiana Jones franchise, adding a bizarre story to what was essentially a perfect trilogy of films. Young Indiana Jones on the other hand, was a seamless transition for the franchise, moving in a direction which opened up a new and interesting aspect. We got to see Indy at his best, in his youth, doing some things that not even Harrison Ford could achieve in his run of films. In Young Indy there is a freshness that is appealing, a newness that is acceptable because it doesn€™t mess with the old. If it ain€™t broke, don€™t fix it, they say. Crystal Skull tried to fix Indiana Jones and bring him up to date with modern audiences, and ultimately did a terrible job. Young Indy didn€™t try to fix the franchise, or anything other than add some new backstory to the character. Comparing The Kingdom Of the Crystal Skull to Young Indiana Jones may be a little odd, after all, Young Indy had finished its run for a good ten years before Crystal Skull came out. But if you consider that Young Indy featured an 'Old' Indy too, (an old-age pensioner in Fedora and leather jacket, played by George Hall) then you can think of Young Indiana Jones as the conclusion to the franchise. Unless Harrison Ford would like to play Indy when he's 96 years old. Which he might, you never know. He's still alive right? Oh yeah, Enders Game. Moving on...

I like writing about films and hope you like reading about them too. And watching them, of course.
