5 Shows The Gotham TV Series Can Learn From To Not Suck

4. Don't Make It A Procedural Like Almost Human

Almost I'm not saying police procedurals are bad, it's just that Fox already has a very genre-specific procedural with Almost Human, and that show is freaking aces. Seriously, if you aren't watching Almost Human, stop not watching it. As my girlfriend so aptly put it in her blog, "It's I, Robot starring Oscar and Felix!" But enough about how I have a girlfriend and back to Gotham. The show would inevitably suffer from a "case of the week" format. Batman has arguably the best rogues gallery in all of comics. The show is already promising that we'd learn how Gotham City descends into a cesspool of crime by giving backstory on all of these characters, but if this week is the Killer Croc episode and next week is the Mr. Zsasz episode, we won't get to know any of these characters. Each episode of Gotham should feel like a chapter in a book, as opposed to a series of short crime novels starring the same detective. We need a three minute-long "Previously On Gotham" montage before each episode to remind us everything that's going on because the plot should be that dense. Okay maybe no three minutes but you get the point.
