While Brittany became one of Glee's most loved characters, it's interesting to note that she barely spoke during Glee's first season - nor did she have a surname. However, when actress Heather Morris was promoted to a series regular during the second season, the character was given a bit more development - just in time for the Britney Spears tribute episode of the musical dramedy.

Coincidence? Absoilutely not. Brittany's full name is, in fact, Brittany S. Pierce, and she is named after the singing sensation herself. In the show's universe, the character was afraid of being overshadowed by her more famous counterpart, which is apparently why her name remained unspoken during the show's first season.

However, by the end of this second season episode, Brittany had fully embraced her inner Britney Spears, and became more confident as a result. She was even given the opportunity to unleash her inner Britney once more during the fourth season, when Glee paid tribute to the pop star again.
