5 TV Characters Named After Real-Life People

1. Harry S. Truman - Twin Peaks

Twin Peaks gave us many unforgettable characters during its initial run, and the show's resident sheriff has become one of its most iconic. In spite of the character's notoriety, however, this isn't the only reason we know of the name Harry S. Truman.

Harry shares his name with the 33rd President of the United States. Like many of the others on this list, this was a deliberate decision on creators David Lynch and Mark Frost's part, as we learn in the series that Harry was named by his father after that particular president. This would explain why the intuitive sheriff has a picture of his namesake hanging in his office during the second season.

Harry's father clearly had a thing for US presidents, as he also named his other son Frank - who only appeared during the 2017 Twin Peaks revival series - after President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Can you think of any other instances when a character was named after a real-life individual? If so, then tell us in the comment section below.
