5 TV Shows That Demand You To Re-Watch

3. Twin Peaks

Twin PeaksWhy You Should Watch It: David Lynch's Twin Peaks was an unprecedented show so unbelievably far ahead of its time, concerning the investigation of a teenage girl's murder which becomes something so much more when Kyle McLaghlan's Agent Dale Cooper comes to town. It's a show where nothing is what it seems and every character is an interesting as the next. It had heart, mystery, surrealism and heartwarming characters at the centre of it all. Unlike anything on television at the time, and nothing since has been quite like it. Why You Should Watch It Again: Like all David Lynch creations, Twin Peaks is a show with so much lurking beneath the surface. And there's already so much going on on the surface itself. Fascinating concepts like Killer Bob, The Man From Another Place and Cooper's intuitive dreams simply demand to be studied beyond one viewing. The show never had a dull moment and never a dull character. Almost everyone was hiding at least one secret and sometimes the pacing would be so erratic, that you might not pick up on some of them. Twin Peaks was a show that built and built upon it's own mythology. The more you found out, the more you would start putting the pieces together. But, you still never managed to get the full picture. The show was harshly axed after just 30 episodes, and it left you wanting so much more. Although you can't carry on watching the story (There was a movie afterwards, but it's a prequel), you can go back and watch it from the start. Twin Peaks is a really rewarding show in the sense that each time you watch it, you may have a completely fresh interpretation of it. And that's what Lynch and Frost always intended. Plus, it's a terrific show to rewatch every few years or so just to see how brilliant it still is, aesthetically. It feels like a show that could have just as easily been made a decade later than it was. It holds up remarkably well, and is truly timeless.
