4. The X-Factor (2004 Present)
As much as The X-Factor is enjoyable mind numbing Saturday night entertainment, enough is enough. There are so many programmes with the same formula that seem to take turns in being the show everyone talks about at work come Monday morning; Did you see how amazing that girl with the upsetting back story was? She is so brave to sing being from such a small town. The biggest problem I have with this show is that Simon Cowell has created something that makes it ok from him, and therefore others, to be rude to someone who doesnt seem to have all of their mental faculties in check. Even the nicest of people will blindly laugh along at some poor misguided wannabe diva whilst watching The X Factor. You wouldnt do it everyday life so why is it ok to do it through the medium of TV? Aside from that, there are just too many similar shows that quite frankly I forget who is on which programme. And I for one dont like the idea of lining Simon Cowells already full pockets so he can drag some wannabe into the limelight for their fifteen minutes of fame and release a half-arsed pop song that is annoyingly catchy.
