5 Ups And 2 Downs From Star Trek: Lower Decks

"What am I, Kirk?"

As we enter week 3 of Star Trek Lower Decks, two things are becoming increasingly clear. 1) That CBS has a pretty good Star Trek show on their hands here and, 2) CBS has a pretty funny Star Trek show on their hands here. Relief isn't usually something you can hear but if you're anywhere near HQ in... [googles]... New York, you might pick up a whiff of it.

It's not been for everybody, of course, some people don't vibe with animation which is fair enough, others are finding it a bit too silly and fair enough, and of course lads who look like they smell of bong water are just incapable of enjoying anything. The jury's still out on the whole thing, but the early signs are good if you ask me.

However, we still don't have a central storyline. The Cerritos two adventures prior to this have focused on the lives of the cast rather than some defining mission, meaning that if we are to have a golden narrative thread then it needs to come in soon. If episode 3 is mishap-of-the-week then it's a fair bet everything else will be too. A tantalising prospect if ever there was one.
