5 Warning Signs The CW Is Plotting To Kill Superman In Crisis On Infinite Earths
4. The Stars Aren't Jumping Ship Mid-Season
Last year's prelude to Crisis on Infinite Earths was Elseworlds. The storyline saw reality upended by the cosmic powers of a mysterious book belonging to a being called The Monitor.
Oliver Queen/Green Arrow confronted The Monitor alone where he discovered that The Flash/Barry Allen and Supergirl/Kara Danvers were fated to die saving the earth. Green Arrow told The Monitor that those two represented hope to the world that it couldn't afford to lose. A deal was struck to save their lives, but at an unknown cost. Presumably the noble Oliver likely offered to sacrifice himself in their stead, but come on - that isn't going to happen.
In addition to being too obvious to be the real surprise, the story can't possibly be the death of Oliver Queen simply because the network would never kill off one of their leads - especially not mid-season. Perhaps if it were the season finale of the 7 year old show, then maybe there would be real cause for concern. Mid season though - not happening.
The next biggest hero the network would be willing to kill off for shock value would be Superman. It would be big drama for the ratings to kill off their figurehead character, and it would also solve an ongoing problem they have against the classic hero.
