5 Warning Signs The CW Is Plotting To Kill Superman In Crisis On Infinite Earths
1. Recreating Maximum Shock
No other character in the DC Universe is more known than Superman. When the comics killed the character off in 1992 it sent out shock waves that reverberate to this day. Superman #75 was originally supposed to be the wedding of Clark Kent & Lois Lane, but they received a corporate order to delay the nuptials to coincide with the eventual wedding on their new TV series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.
The issue sold over six million copies, made international news, and spawned various adaptations. It's been adapted into a video game, action figure sets, an animated movie (twice over, and it was a two part volume the second go around), and worked its way into the feature films. It is understandable why Arrowverse would hope to be the next to replicate the story to ensure their long awaited Crisis crossover is appropriately epic.
Where as fans knew Superman wouldn't stay dead in those other adaptations, his return in this case is far more uncertain. He doesn't have the protection of the CW stars who have their own series that need them. And as we covered, the CW seems to have a strong preference for him to just go away. If Superman falls this time, it may be for good.
