Yes, you might attract the ire and ridicule of others who have never experienced the sweetness of standing in a queue with people wearing their own home-made armour, or massively over-weight, but enthusiastic superheroes, but they can have their boring normalcy.
1. Write Your Own Stuff
Do it. Write terrible Fan Fiction where Tyrion sleeps with one of the Dragons or your very own fantasy epic. Maybe your not so good at coming up with the stories yourself, but there's that book you've been reading, and in the back of your mind you can't help but wonder how a film might work (I'm currently reading Martin Lawrence's Prince of Thorns and I'm starting to wonder). Show it to someone. You don't have to, but maybe you can share the experience together. If you're feeling ambitious, try submitting it somewhere or getting it made. But it doesn't matter if not. Don't do it for anyone else, do it for you. Write it and in your mind it can be the best story ever written, because exactly what you want to happen is what happens, and it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, it's not their story. And best of all, it'll only end when you want it to. (Although constructive criticism can be helpful, I'm not suggesting that other people don't have anything valuable to say). If anyone's interested,
here's one I made earlier (about two weeks ago). It's pretty terrible, but I had fun. (I promise I'm not trying to draw attention to my blog. I don't update it anyway near regularly enough for me to think people would care, I just thought it might be nice to give an example).
