There's no hiding from the fact that Steve Coogan has a great balance of car knowledge, humour and general popularity, so much so that he's already featured in several episodes of the show. He's a self-proclaimed huge fan of the show, but has slammed some of the crude jokes made by Clarkson in a stinging piece for The Guardian. Coogan fired shots at Hammond and May, but if they choose to follow Clarkson out of the door, Coogan could well be in an all-new line-up. There's also demands from fans for the BBC to hire his most famous character Alan Partridge, with around 35,000 people signing a petition to get the fictional Knowing Me, Knowing You star onto the show.
