4. Clea DuVall (Marcie Ross)
Episode: "Out of Mind, Out of Sight". Famous For: Argo; The Faculty; Girl, Interrupted; The Grudge etc. Clea DuVall's Marcie Ross was an unpopular student at Sunnydale High School who appeared in the eleventh episode of the first season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She had no friends and was regularly completely ignored, even by the teachers and the other unpopular students. Her yearbook epitomised this, as the only thing people signed in it was "Have a nice summer" - which was used when people had nothing of worth to say. Even the other unpopular students like Willow Rosenberg and Xander Harris wrote this. They confessed to not knowing her, even though they had shared four classes in a previous school year. After a while, Marcie started to literally become invisible and noticed this when she raised her hand in class to give an answer and saw right through it. Buffy's Watcher, Rupert Giles, came up with the theory that it was the result of the Hellmouth manipulating reality on the quantum level. Since people essentially perceived Marcie as being invisible, she literally became that way. After this, Marcie then took shelter above the school's ceiling, below the roof. Marcie then started to exploit her power - using it to anonymously assault the popular students who had ignored her - and this brought her in to conflict with the slayer. After being held hostage by Marcie, Buffy used her slayer senses to identify her exact whereabouts and land a perfect knock-out punch. Marcie was then taken away to a special school for invisible students just like her where it was implied that she would be rehabilitated to become an assassin/spy.
