4. The Acting
Better Call Saul is a show that is never let down by its actors, who carry it with almost inhuman levels of charisma and ability that an audience can't help but engage with their characters. It is anchored by two unbelievable performances from Bob Odenkirk and Rhea Seehorn. Odenkirk, of course, already a fan favourite from his Breaking Bad days displays his acting chops to great effect and Seehorn, deservedly enjoying a real break-out role as his long suffering partner, is stunning at times.
Their supporting cast more than ably back them up, with Giancarlo Esposito and Jonathan Banks reprising their famous roles to the delight of Breaking Bad fans the world over. It would also be wrong not to give a special mention to the criminally under-rated Michael Mando, who plays new cartel member Nacho Varga.
In a show full of stand-out and career defining performances; Mando somehow manages to shine brighter than any. A complex and consistently torn character, Mando plays Varga with restrained emotion and engaging charm and he is undeniably brilliant. It's good to finally see an actor of Mando's ability given as much screen time as he deserves to showcase his talents and, along with so many other things, Better Call Saul deserves huge credit for that.
