6 Supporting TV Characters Who Stole The Show (And 3 Who Never Should Have)

1. Felicity Smoak - Arrow

Emily Bett Rickards' infectious performance as Oliver Queen's secret tech-genius girl in the chair resonated with a heap of fans throughout Arrow's first two seasons, as Felicity Smoak became the superhero show's hidden gem. From her quirky humour (which always brightened the dullest of moments) to her effectiveness as the voice of Team Arrow, Felicity played her role to perfection.

Unfortunately, the writers took that as incentive to increase her role and thus, forced rightful leading lady Laurel Lance into the sidelines, while forcing Felicity to the forefront as the Emerald Archer's main love interest (and down the throats of everyone watching at home). As a result, the standard of the show quickly declined, as rewrites of Oliver's backstory had to be made in order to present her as his true love when, in all honesty, it was clear that she wasn't.

Furthermore, the pair's problematic relationship resulted in a ton of melodramatic storylines as Felicity became intolerable and, quite literally, made everything about her (remember how she attempted to make William's kidnapping all about the fact that Oliver lied to her instead of, you know, prioritising the boy's safety and saving the necessary argument for later?).

A comic book legacy marred by a relationship that would even give a daytime soap a bad name, the character simply wasn't built to play a leading role and, with her shoehorned into that position, there was no one around to brighten up those depressing storylines. You know who would have been great for that? The original Felicity.
