6 TV Shows That Prove "Season 2" is the Best

1. Homeland (Present Day 2012)

OK, so maybe it is a little too early to call but I am going to make this prediction right now. Season 2 of Homeland will be the shows very best season in a run that will likely run up until Season 5 ( I am guessing). Unlike the rest of the world, I wasn't completely wowed by the shows first season and personally I do not believe it deserved to win the Best Drama Series Award at the Emmy awards this year. Personally I found Season 4 of Breaking Bad to be the shows very best season and this definitely deserved to take home the award this year. That said, I still enjoyed season 1 of Homeland (mostly because of Claire Danes is a fantastic actress) but I wasn't completely hooked by it. It was good but not great; it had a lot of potential but didn't show us everything it could be. Up until the seasons final episode (the seasons very best episode) I was actually debating whether or not I even liked the show all that much. This episode was so great (the episode where Brody almost blows up the vice president) that it actually made me realise that I did love the show and even renewed my love for every episode prior to this. My main criticism of the shows first season is that Brody's family life (even Brody himself) bored me somewhat- I thought there should have been a hell of a lot more depth to his home life scenes than there was. The only reason I was still watching was because Saul and Carrie were and are still fascinating characters and really great actors. Season 2 of Homeland so far has completely made me fall in love with this show in ways that even surprised me. This season so far has in fact perhaps already pushed this show into one of my top 10 favorite television shows of all time. It is without a doubt, currently, the drama series currently on air (not including Breaking Bad because it is not on air at the moment) I look forward to the most and I for one can not wait to see where this show is headed, especially considering the unbelievably edge of your seat and heart racing last episode in which Carrie finally arrested Brody for being a terrorist. This was a revelation I absolutely was not expecting so early on in the show, and even up until the point this happened, I wasn't expecting Brody to get arrested. In fact, the entire last episode seemed to set up a way in which they could watch and spy on Brody for the entire season without arresting him, and this really was where I thought the show was heading. Barring in mind that I thought the show would likely end with Brody getting arrested, I literally can not wait to see the shows next episode. This is the greatest plot twist of any television show in at least the last 5 years and you would be silly not to watch this show if you don't already. I would be surprised if this show doesn't win the best drama award next year at the Emmy's too- although I would probably prefer they let Breaking Bad win at least one- especially in it's last season (which will probably be one of the greatest seasons of television ever). Can you think of any other Season 2's which were the best seasons in their shows? Disagree with any of my picks on this list? Have evidence why a different season of a show is usually the best? I would love to hear your arguments in the comments section below...

I am a recent Screenwriting for Film and Television graduate from the UK. I am an unashamed geek who loves everything Marvel, and anything Joss Whedon has ever touched (except for maybe Alien Resurrection and Titan A.E). My current favorite TV shows are Breaking Bad, Family Guy, House of Cards, Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, Homeland and Glee. I look forward to debating things with all of you in the future.
