6 Ups & 3 Downs From The Arrowverse In 2020

Downs...

3. Supergirl's Decline

Supergirl Season 5 Kara Danvers Melissa Benoist
The CW

The writers of Supergirl outdid themselves with the show's fourth season, providing viewers with a narrative that was educational, thought-provoking and highly enjoyable all at the same time. Unfortunately, the show wasn't able to retain that momentum for its fifth.

Even though Jon Cryer carried more than his fair share of episodes to greatness as the dastardly Lex Luthor, the back half of the season suffered from dragged out narratives and uninteresting villains in Leviathan. And Lena Luthor's repetitive blame-someone-else-for-my-villainy-that-isn't-really-villainy cycle was exhausting.

Season 5 wasn't bad per se and it did have some great moments throughout (and great new characters in Kelly Olsen and William Dey), but it was just too sharp a drop in quality from its predecessor.
