In our current state of TV nirvana, it's hard to imagine a time when we weren't spoiled for both choice and variety when it comes to every households' favourite pastime. Such is the standard of modern television and the ease of access of said shows, problems that plagued TV viewers ten years ago are a thing of the past. Scheduling and feverishly checking the TV guide for the week ahead no longer factor in the modern age of TV entertainment and while I run the risk of incurring the wrath of passionate fans around the world, compared to now, there was only a handful of programmes worth all that effort at any given time anyway. Yes, long gone are the days of booking the sitting room and fighting over the remote unless of course, Coronation Street is going head to head with a Champions League match. Nowadays the hardest decision often lies in the actual choosing of what to watch and in fact, how to incorporate the vast array of quality shows into our busy lives. Last year I wrote a similar article on what shows were worth your time and as with with everything, hindsight can be wonderful. That, and the comments section. With new shows setting new standards, it's time to revisit and re-evaluate, and while this is in no way meant as a definitive list these seven shows are guaranteed to be enjoyed by both you and your partner equally. I've left out obvious classics such as Friends and Seinfield as well as modern masterpieces such as LOST and The Soprano's as many that have appeared on my previous article.
