7 Community Alumni Who Went On To Work In Sci-Fi
1. Ludwig Göransson
Music plays a prominent role in Community. Whether it's a bizarre musical opening number, a karaoke session with the Dean, or a temporary stint with the Glee club, the Greendale seven tend to break out into song.
However, one of the show's best musical aspects is its score, composed by Ludwig Göransson. The Swedish composer, known for his work on Ryan Coogler's films, scored every episode of Community. His themes captures the essence of Greendale perfectly, sounding goofy, profound, and welcoming all at once.
Since working in Community, Göransson has gone on to score Disney Plus' The Mandalorian. He takes inspiration from many classical Western scores, and presumably his earlier work on A Fistfull of Paintballs, to create the chilling themes for the Star Wars TV Series.
However, Göransson's most notable work is his score for 2018's Black Panther. Fans can immediately recognize his powerful Wakandan themes, using traditional African instruments as well as more typically superheroic orchestras. He won a well earned Oscar for his work on Black Panther.
If only Greendale had asked Göransson to write their school song instead of Pierce.
