7 Life Lessons Orange Is The New Black Season 2 Taught Me

3. But The Truly Mighty Will Rise Again

NetflixNetflixAs a continuation of the last lesson, Red's story isn't yet over just yet. Yes, the mighty fall and even lose their power, but that is by no means the end of the story. The truly mighty always rise again. They find ways to regain their power, because without it they're lost. In this case Red turns what looks like her retirement into a new business venture. This shows a great amount of resourcefulness, something that is characteristic of mighty people. Red is an intriguing lady. I'm choosing to call her a lady, because to me she really personifies the word. She is charming and at the same time terrifying. She knows how to use power, without become absorbed by it. She is resourceful and intelligent. Watching Red make the best of her situation and begin to rebuild her empire is truly inspiring. Instead of simply giving in and resigning herself to a life of crocheting, she decides that it is never too late to start again. Using the greenhouse as a base she finds a new way to smuggle in goods. She'd already learnt that goods equal friends, so she uses everything from tights to makeup to win back her loyal followers. It works, which only goes to show how fickle people are, but that's another lesson. What is to be taken away from this is that if you are truly mighty, you'll find a way to stay in power no matter what greenhouse people stick you in.
