No matter how dire the stakes, every show needs the occasional light hearted moment. Both for spacing out the serious stuff as well as providing a diverse taste palette for the viewer.

Unfortunately this can become a bit of a double edged sword because lots of shows end up injecting humour to such an extent, it starts bleeding onto the more serious aspects of the story. And while having characters share a moment’s giggle as they face an enemy onslaught can come off pretty well, many times it also ends up diluting the moment.

The Last Airbender suffers from no such bad mixes. Despite almost every episode having its share of jokes and characters taking jabs at one another, it is always placed perfectly so as to not overlap with the more important stuff. As a result, we get a show that serves up laughs and heart stopping action in equal amounts, and it's all the more stronger for it.
