7 Most Shocking TV Character Deaths

6. Sayid Jarrah (Lost)

Sayid Discussing any aspect of Lost is tricky business, as it's a widely accepted fact that the show lost control of what it was doing and what the actual point was by the latest of season three, but the death of Sayid Jarrah was a particularly perplexing one for fans of the show. Sayid was easily one of the most likeable characters the show had to offer. He was an Iraqi communications officer who begins working for the CIA in trade for information leading him to the location of Nadia, the love of his life whom he had allowed to escape interrogation and torture. He is noble, whilst also being completely badass. Think of him as Lost's very own version of The Walking Dead's Daryl. So when season six came along €“ with it's extremely confusing plot involving The Man In Black €“ Sayid had been flipped into a grimacing villain, siding with The Others on the island. He'd already murdered a couple of the other characters before finding redemption in conversing the the Jesus-like Desmond, so by now he must be about to get revenge on those who had bewitched him, right? Nope, instead he is blown up by a bomb intended for Jack and company. It's a noble death, and yes, it redeems his previous acts of evil, but it left the show without one of the few remaining characters who was even slightly interesting any more. Then again, in the weird sideways flash at the end/beginning of the show, we do see Sayid in another life/in the future, remembering his experience on the island, so technically I guess he didn't die anyway. Or did he? Lost is confusing.
